Artist & neat lady
T.L. Luke (b. 1990, USA) graduated from University of Wisconsin - Whitewater in 2013 with her B.F.A in oil painting and drawing. Fascinated with the potential that children’s picture books have on the development of a child’s creativity, Luke explores this concept via dark and whimsical subjects with the adult viewer in mind. Each piece is a frozen scene of a larger, magical story of wonder and adventure; yet, each piece is not without a gentle nudge of discomfort. Often the hero is a lone girl, happy and undisturbed by the larger-than-life beasts surrounding her within vast, natural landscapes, no other humans in sight. This display of fearless independence and charisma makes her a powerful and inspiring character for children and adults alike. What can we all accomplish by facing the monsters under our beds? Perhaps a beautiful day of apple picking with our darkest omens.
T.L. Luke currently resides in Madison, Wisconsin with her partner, Andrew, and their two black cats, Miya and Taka.
